| Nutella + Powdered Sugar Waffle, Paris |
1.) Waffles
Anywhere you go waffles are pretty darn good. But in Paris, they are something else.My favorite place to get waffles are the little pop-up shops along Concorde Square as you are walking out of the park. They make crepes, waffles, and many other treats (pictured above). Trust me when I say they are the best waffles in Paris. For only a few euros, you'll have a delicious treat to enjoy while you are exploring the city. Enjoy!
2.) Escargo
I know, I know..Its snails. But listen guys, When in France..do as the French do. I promise it's not as bad as you think. And how awesome will it be to say "Yes I tried escargo in France."?? I was honestly terrified, but my roommate and our home-stay brother Freddie talked me into it. I mean when else was I gonna be in France contemplating eating snails? Travel is all about getting outside of your comfort zone--eating snails or any other local delicacy is the perfect way to do it.
3.) Guinness

Okay so this isn't food, but still. Having a pint of Guinness while in Ireland is considered trying a delicacy! This ale is considered to be a very vital part of the Irish community, and it does not dissappoint. Stop by the Guinness factory and take a tour and at the end you'll get a free pint! Sounds like a deal to me. It's very refreshing, especially after a long day of taking tours and exploring.
4.) Pasta
Whether it be in Italy, or London make sure you get some pasta while abroad. Find a little hole in the wall spot by your hostel or wherever you're staying and try it out. Some of the best places are ones that you just stumble upon by accident. This one is by our home-stay in Northern London. Even if you don't make it to Italy, there are some amaaazing pizza & pasta places in London. Have a glass of wine and watch your food being made while you wait. Love it!5.) Macaroons
I shared a little bit about these beauties in my post about my favorite spots in Paris. But just to stress how good they are, they've made it to my list of must eats. You cannot leave Paris without heading to Laduree for some macaroons. Try the Marie Antoinette flavor (turquoise colored one), it will not disappoint you. I even brought some home to my family as there was a shop right in the airport
6.) Maison Blanc

There are several chains of this delicious french pastry shop/restaurant throughout the UK. When you sit down and try, you'll understand why. They have some delicious french food, but the best has to be their breakfast. I ordered a traditional french breakfast with eggs, sausage, toast, tomatoes, and bacon. What they brought out to me was AMAZING. I mean just look at it. --->
7.) Haggis & Traditional Scottish Whiskey
If you are heading to Scotland, make sure you try some haggis. I was not particularly fond of it, but many people were so you never know. But at least I can say I tried it! It isusually served with chicken and such so it shouldn't be too weird. Also, Scottish Ale and Whiskey are a must. I won't give away the
best traditional whiskey, but just make sure if you visit you ask a bar-tender to try some home-made Scottish Whiskey. It is the smoothest, most delicious whiskey you will ever taste. Don't miss it !
8.) Traditional Fish & Chips
If you are heading to London, stop in at any pub and have at least one Fish & Chips dinner. This is a must-do if you visit this beautiful city. Any pub will do , but Tuffs is probably the best Fish & Chips spot in all of London. Take a bite of those and you will instantly feel like a true Londoner. You'll be mastering the tube and the buses in no time! ;)
9.) Gelato/ Sorbet
Whether it be in the UK or Italy, the land of gelato itself, have some sorbet! It is a must-eat when traveling abroad. It will instantly refresh you after a long day of taking in art and the history of the culture you are in. My favorite spot for Gelato was in Bath, UK. Bath is a beautiful roman city outside of London filled with so much history and Roman Culture. If you can't quite afford Italy yet, plan a day or weekend trip to Bath for some Roman culture.10.) Market Foods
Any country you visit stop by their local outdoor Markets and try some food! My favorite was Borrough Market, as mentioned in my previous posts, in London. They have every food you can imagine, from squid all the way to cookies and sweets. I always opted for the 1 pound cookie as big as my head, because why not? ( Check out my Instagram for the evidence.) Throughout your days of traveling, stopping at a local market and eating samples upon samples can make any day better. You can even fill up on some groceries or snacks to take on your next day trip. A must-do!
Now that I have made you all hungry---I hope this has given you all a better idea of what to try in just some of my favorite countries abroad! I have yet to get to Italy, Germany, or Spain so once I get there I'm sure I will have a whole new list of delicious treats to share. Until then...

Miranda Lopez
