Ireland--Land of Clovers, Whiskey, and amazing people

Hi everyone! So I know I've been gone for a bit due to school and training for my job at Disney! it's safe to say i'm a very busy bee right now. :) But i'm very excited to be back with my favorite company and staying as active as possible. Anywhoo-- I thought since today is St. Patricks Day I'd write a little bit about my time in the amazing city of Dublin, Ireland. I stayed in the center of the city at Kinlay House Hostel. I have to say as soon as I landed in Ireland i fell in love with it. The people were so amazingly welcoming and friendly; not once did I feel out of place. The hostel we stayed at was decorated with pictures of vikings and old Irish folklore tales. We were lucky enough to be right in the center of Temple Bar, the main district of bars, restaurants, and city-life in Dublin. We were about a five minute walk away from beautiful Trinity College (a must-see), Dublin Castle, as well as the famous Guinness factory. I honestly wasn't too fond of Guinness when I first tried it, but when you get it fresh, straight from the brewery it is AMAZING! Definitely stop by the brewery and take the tour and at the end you get a free pint! Sounds like a deal to me. What was great about our hostel was that they offered free-walking tours, I highly recommend it! You will learn a lot about the city's history and even learn some Gaelic (a dialect spoken in Ireland and Scotland)! I also highly recommend the Viking Pub Crawl.

Most hostels in the area should offer it. I believe it is about 10 euros and it includes: a free shot at every pub(about 6 of them), drinking games, and free pizza in the middle of the night. (side note: they got a beer pong tournament going because none of them had ever played before, they were fascinated by it ! ;D hahaha) But The guys in charge make the night so much fun. My roommate and I made so many new friends from several different countries. I promise you it will be a night to remember. If you have time just walk around and explore the city center. We walked around the markets, stopped in at a few pubs, learned some traditional Irish dancing and more! Everyone was so sweet to us and even bought some of our drinks when they found out we were from California.  Of course when we went Ireland just happened to be playing England in futbol so the pubs were going crazy! Even though Ireland lost, the people still cheered in their green attire and had a good time. I will never forget their spirit and wonderful sense of humor. I only had a weekend in Ireland but i would definitely go back since there were a lot of things I missed like the Cliffs of Moher, Wicklow National Park (as seen in P.S. I love you), etc.
I will definitely go back one day and explore the countryside a bit more when I save up the money. I am about 10% Irish, so I definitely want to go back and do my family proud. If you are ever near Ireland I definitely recommend stopping by and having a pint with the local people. You'll love them!
