Traveling/Exploring your own City & Country

Traveling is an escape from reality and an invigorating experience. But if there is one thing I learned from my experience abroad, it would be to take advantage and explore the city and country I am already in. There are so many things to be seen in our own backyard. I have this constant craving to get on a plane and fly far away to a city I've never been to. But what I realized is, there are so many of those cities right around me. I've decided to make a list of all the places I want to see in California. Then I will move on to other states. Though I may cheat and plan a trip to New York soon. (Fingers Crossed). Once you get the travel bug, there is literally no way to stop it. You're hooked. All you can think about is where you want to go next, when your next adventure will happen, how much you need to save, etc. It can be quite stressful figuring out all the logistics. You'll end up itching to go anywhere. Here's what I suggest: To keep from going crazy while you're saving, find little things to do to satisfy your wanderlust. Find a new Museum, (What I did today), a new bookstore, a new beach, Explore a city nearby, take a road trip; somewhere not too far or expensive. Do just enough to settle your wild heart. It'll thank you for it, Promise. I went to LACMA today with my friends, one of which is leaving to Ireland in a few days. (So proud of her!) It was so nice to be in a Museum again and feel like I'm looking at something for the first time. It's an amazing feeling to open your mind to new things, and have fun while doing it! I live only 20-30 minutes away from LA so I go all the time. But, I notice every time I visit, I go somewhere new, I see something new. That's what is so great about this world. There is always something new to see, new to learn, and new to teach others. Challenge yourself to get out there and go somewhere you have never been before. Even if its just to the park around the corner you always drive by but never get out and walk through. I guarantee you'll learn something from it. It may seem like something small but just getting up and doing something different will make you feel so much better. When I got home from London, I just wanted to go, go, go. I promised myself that I would get out, hike, explore, and learn more about my own city. I hope that you will do the same.
