China Town
Over the course of the four months I lived and explored in London, I found some pretty amazing sites as well as a few hidden gems. Some days I left my house, got on the tube and got off at several different tube stations to see what they offered. Not one disappointed. I thought it was time I shared with you all a few of my favorite spots I found in London. There are so many that captured my heart and I have complete faith that they will do the same to you.
The picture above is Beautiful Kensington, a quaint burrough in Central London. It is surrounded by the Victoria & Albert Museum as well as a park and a few shopping areas. I found it one day after visiting the museum. The best parts of London are the ones you find when you aren't looking.
Another one of my favorite places to visit after classes or when we were just exploring the city was Borough Market.
It is located right by Shakespeare's Globe Theater in Central London. It has an endless supply of meats, cheeses, wine, sweets,
coffee, anything, you name it. Even cookies the size of your head. (Very true, check my Instagram. It was a guilty pleasure to stop there
and indulge every once in a while.
We all were obsessed with China Town in Leicster Square for it's uplifting environment and amazing selection of Chinese food. We went there for dinner, birthdays and even Chinese New Year. If you can make it in that time, the streets are filled with people, food, music, and even a big dragon winding down each street in the area. Around the corner is a movie theater as well as one of my favorite irish pubs, Oneill's. It's a must-see at any time.
Kensington Park
One place I got completely mesmerized by was Kensington Palace & Gardens. Many royal families have lived there as well as Will & Kate! You can go in and see most of the palace with a guided tour. The palace is surrounded by endless, beautiful gardens and a beautiful park. There is something so magical about the endless trees and flowers. It takes about an hour and a half to get through the whole park, it's that big. If you're a fan of peter pan, there is also a big statue dedicated to the character. Right across from it, you will get the view on the left. I got lucky when I snapped this shot as it just finished raining and a rainbow appeared. London is always surprising you..
Fasta
The last place I will mention in my favorite places in London is my favorite place to eat. One word. FASTA. It's located by my homestay in Muswell Hill. Its about a 20 minute tube ride from the city, but I promise, the commute is worth it. I've been to alot of pasta places, but this one was AMAZING, and not to mention cheap. They cook the past right in front of you while you wait with a glass of wine. The service is excellent. The manager always came out to ask us how we liked the food when we were done. I mean, come on. Does itnot sound amazing? My picture does not even do it justice.
You could spend four months in London and still not see all that it has to offer. You will never be bored, that I can promise, as there is always something to do. For "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."
